Richard Serra at MoMA

These photos don't really do the new Richard Serra exhibit at MoMA much justice. You can't see how large the steel sculptures are, how they lean or open up over you, and how grand each piece is.
Anyone in New York City through September 10th should really take some time and head to MoMA and check it out.

oooo! I love Serra. He was a huge reason why we went to Bilbao. These look like similar pieces to those he has at the Guggenheim, yes?

of course they are similar b/c they are all steel. but i haven't seen the ones in bilbao.
the two outside are from the 90s. there are also three new ones that were made just for this show. that's the first two pictures. they also have some of his earlier work in rubber and lead.
you'll have to make a trip back to come see them!

I haven't seen this yet but I will. Last night Charlie Rose had an amazing interview with Serra. Serra was so articulate about his work and about sculpture in general. The interview should be available to read online or as a podcast. Not to be missed.
