Mortimer Likes the Phones
Because a cellphone isn't enough communication for Mortimer, he also has the apartment phone. He's on both of them all the freaking time.

He calls other friends and they come over when you're out. They wear smoking jackets, they talk about chicks and they smoke cigars. They sip brandy and listen to George Burns. Duh
