I say the ape/monkey did it.
(By the way, tail = monkey and no tail = ape. Take it from someone who actually majored in this in college. And, yes, I know that's sad.)

Looks like my couch. I've tried to discourage clawing by putting an exercise ball in front of the couch, but it's a hopeless exercise, like Iraq.
