Wait - your cat won't let you rub its belly? I'm starting to think I have mutant cats. They let me do whatever (except trim their nails, amusingly enough). My brother's cat almost ripped off my finger when I tried to rub its belly.

well, mortimer doesn't really roll over too much. i can rub the belly with my hands, but it's hard to get your face in there if he's just on his side curled up in a ball.
