For Mortimer: Collar or No?
For as long as Mortimer's been adopted, he's had a collar and tags on, but recently we made the decision to take them off. When down in Virginia, it seemed to make sense to have it on as he could theoretically run outside now and again (one time he almost ran off). But now that he's in Brooklyn, inside all day, and would have a hard time making it outdoors, it's not all that necessary to wear.
So we recently decided to remove his collar. It's nice because Mort always scratched at it and it seemed to annoy him, but there are drawbacks. First off, he looks naked without it and he can't show his Michigan pride (he's very upset about that Alamo Bowl). But the biggest reason why Mort not wearing a collar (besides potentially getting lost) is that you never know when he's walking around. Prior to removal, the jingle of the tags around his neck was a dead giveaway to when he was moving around. Now, he's much more stealthy than before.
We need to get him some tic tacs to put in his coat pocket. They might help with his breath too.

If there's truly no danger of his getting out -- and you're not worried about his getting underfoot with no tags to jingle his approach -- then I say Mort should go commando!

He looks good either way, but I just love them dressed up.....the collar gave him personality. I am trying to get CoCo Chanel to wear a collar but she won't have a thing to do with them... now Spitha (my min pin) on the other hand, total diva.."french" pedicute and all.....
Ah yes the tic tacs in the coat pocket....I have vague memories of this from somewhere...movie..book??? I'm going crazy trying to remember...

I went nuts trying to remeber about the tic tacs. Unfortunately, I remembered it at dinner the other night and thought out loud, a little TOO loudly I might add...and said "OH YEAH It WAS that SEINFELD episode"
I tried to make a long story short and explain my outburst to everyone, but then i'd have to keep THEM up all night to get to HOW I got to your blog, how I read several pages of it, and WHO Mortimer was and why I was trying to remember the tic tac reference.....etc. So I just said "oh never mind....i'm in a bizarro world right now and this is no big deal to any of you anyway so drop it....."

corie, the thought of that is a bit disturbing.
greg, we actually have greenies for him already. we just picked up some more this weekend too.
g, i have many moments when i chuckle to myself because of seinfeld or the simpsons so i don't find that too odd at all.
