A Bizarre Night at the Brooklyn Brewery

POST #    1799

I love the Brooklyn Brewery, and why wouldn't I? It's close to home, the beer is good and reasonably priced, it's a fun atmosphere, and you can have pizza delivered. Last night, however, was odd. Apparently, they do karaoke at Brooklyn Brewery once a month (which is odd enough), but last night was a "showcase" of amateur singers, which to me is odd. Are the Friday happy hours at the brewery not successful enough that you have to add another component to it? Are they not fun enough? The singing made it so loud in the brewery that it was hard to carry on a conversation.

Our group, including a temporary pirate, forged on. There were some drinking games (Kings and a failed attempt at Asshole), some Chinese Poker, which I probably haven't played in about 8 years, and some regular poker. Kings was very hard to play with all the noise and it's a game where you actually have to hear people.

And if the whole singing thing isn't odd enough, towards the end of the night, there was dancing. Dancing! There was some Hova playing and there were people were grinding. It was all kind of disturbing. I wonder if the brewery has a cabaret license...hmm.

Not enough oddness? Well, they are having a speed dating event today. Speed dating in Williamsburg? Hipsters roll in their graves!
