New Shoe Tuesday: Nike iD - Waffle Racer II

POST #    1749

Three weeks ago, I went to the Nike iD Design Lab and designed myself some sneakers. Of course, when I left, I walked away thinking, "I designed an awesome pair of sneakers." When I opened them last night, I wasn't quite as pleased with my design. I figure there is at least one reason for that. I'm no professional (although I suppose I look at sneakers enough) designer.

Despite the fact that I didn't love the shoes from the get go, they are slowly growing on me. I love the clementine (orange), but I was hoping that the granite would be darker. Instead, it's pretty much white. And the front of the shoe is black, like I chose, but it's leather, making for a somewhat awkward look. If I had it to do over again, I would probably darken the body of the shoe and/or lighten the front.

At least I can still take comfort in the fact that very few people, if any, will have the same shoe as me.

it's a start. You wanted them to be a little more funky, deeper? (forgive cali talk).
Make your own way, people will follow when you lead.
Nice box.

i'm not sure exactly how i wanted them. i just thought the colors were going to be slightly different. i can say that i generally like the colors i chose though. especially that orange color.

nice choice. waffles are my favorite nike's by far because of weight. though they do get slightly uncomfortable from the treads after about 8-12 hrs of wear.

waffle's by production have the most creative designs, outside of nikeID, in my opinion. japanese of course.

i would LOVE the chance to design my own waffles. how much did that run you? and forgive me if i try to procure those black/orange lava domes. good taste. nice angled photos. reminds me of import cars.

ny go figure.

Those are very cool....Just ID'd a pair for my boyfriend in the London store. Sounds like you guys in NY get a much better deal...there was no one around to help so I practicially had to beg for an assistant who turned out very helpful but couldn't show me or even tell what materials they'd be using....I just hope mine turn out as good lookin' as yours...
How do they fit? They wouldn't do a half size for me so I hope they fit ok...

Waffle Racer III have mostly sold out in the US, the only place they can be found in abundance is Canada. Canada is also the home to several rediculous shoes, such as Air Max 95 in rediculous colors that will never be seen in the US, such as the Chi town Air max's. It is also one of the only places that still has prestos in abundance as well. Only problem is Raffle Racers go for about 160 US. Small price to pay i suppose for rarities.

Thanks,
