Dinner @ Diner

POST #    1613

Last night, I headed out to South Williamsburg for dinner at Diner with Janelle, Jason, and Youngna. Diner is this tiny little restaurant in a refurbished dining car from the Roaring 20's.

Not all of my pictures came out clear (like that's stopped me before) from the night - I blame the pre-dinner Chimay. Pictured are the crostini and the hangar steak with mashed potatoes. Not pictured are the duck with mushrooms and fried polenta (my dish), pork wrapped in bacon (!!!!), a salad with coppa, a watercress soup, and a lemon something dessert.

I didn't really love the polenta, which brought down the overall quality of my dish, but the duck was quite tasty. Jason's pork dish was wrapped in bacon, which is obviously hard to dislike. The coppa on Youngna's dish was tasty as well, much like prosciutto is. Janelle's hangar steak was tasty despite being ordered medium well, but her potatoes were too smooth. Must have more lumps. Most of all, I loved the crostini, which was topped with olives and brocoli. Mmm...so good. I could have eaten that all night. All in all, a very good meal. Besides, how can you not like a place that writes the specials on the table's paper.
