2004 Simpsons Viewer's Choice

POST #    1415

Since last week, Fox 5 has been airing The Simpsons Viewer's Choice and this week is the top 10. The top 10, as voted on by Fox 5 viewers.

- 10: Boy Scoutz N the Hood. Bart joins the scouts and Homer leads them astray. Choice quote, "Water, water everywhere, let's all have a drink."
- 9: The Worst Episode Ever. Comic book guy has heart attack, Bart and Millhouse take over store. Really is the worst episode ever, not sure how it got voted in.
- 8: Missionary: Impossible. Homer becomes a missionary after a debt to PBS. Also rather "eh" in my book.
- 7: Homer's Night Out. Homer has his picture taken with a belly dancer.
- 6: Krusty Gets Busted. Klassic episode where Krusty is arrested for robbing the Kwik-E-Mart.
- 5: Who Shot Mr. Burns? Another classic episode where Burns blocks the sun. Homer and crew get rickets.
- 4: Who Shot Mr. Burns? The continuation of #5. There is some Simpson DNA on the gun that kills Burns.
- 3: Homer at the Bat. Ahh, the company softball team. So far, only the 2nd episode that I can agree with (Boy Scoutz being the first).
- 2: King Size Homer. Oh boy do I love this episode. The towel rack, the crazed ice cream truck driving, the muumuu!!
- 1: Flaming Moe's. Also classic, but not my #1.

I went through the chore of picking my favorite 10 last year.

How can you not like the Missionary episode? The "Jebus" line killed!!!!

It even made Urban Dictionary: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=jebus

one quote does not an episode make.

and is that episode really top 10?!? i think not.

you think the new york episode ever had a chance to make the top 10?

Posted by: halo | veritech pilot at November 18, 2004 10:34 AM

probably not, but i have seen it on television since 2001.

I'm realizing that I was severely deprived of all the TV shows that most normal people watched growing up including, but not limited to: simpsons, seinfeld, 90210 and all those other teen drama shows, most episodes of SNL, 80's angst movies, and, well, the sad list goes on. It's so troubling. I think my parents made me practice the violin a lot or something.

oh wait. and, never saw a music video until I was 17 and oh god, have seen maybe 1 episode EVER of road rules and real world. SAD.

I really miss the days when Bart said Cowabunga Dude and Eat My Shorts. I don't think they air those episodes anymore.

The first couple of seasons really focused on Bart. Then they realized that Homer's boorish ways were much more of a draw to audiences, so he became the focus.

Get the first couple of seasons on DVD. Good stuff. Plus you get to see how the drawing styles evolved.

And yes Tien, that one line in the Missionary episode did make me laugh so much that it made the episode. I do agree, however, that it is not a top-10. I was simply responding to you saying you didn't like it at all....

youngna, you're really missing out. i think you would really enjoy the simpsons. then again, i think everyone should be able to enjoy the simpsons. and seinfeld is very ny and happens to be coming out on dvd soon too.

heather, you can occasionally see the really old episodes because fox 5 seems to run them in some sort of sequence.

salty, i generally don't like the newest episodes quite as much as the older ones. and i didn't say i didn't like it at all. i just said it was "eh".

'pray for mojo' is a much better line than 'help me jebus'.

What's interesting is that Homer has become the focus. Homer's great, but sometimes it's too much Homer. I like learning about the secondary and tertiary characters. Also excellent at Lisa episodes: I Love Lisa, Lisa The Vegetarian and the one where she has a crush on the substitute. Plus, there's 22 Short Films About Springfield.

Whoah man. Many of the Lisa episodes would land on the "Worst 10" list. Granted, some have been good - like the one you mentioned with Dustin Hoffman as the substitute - but the majority are pure season filler.

yeah, lisa as a vegetarian was a great episode.

"you don't make friends with salad"...homer's bbbq...and when pigs fly. all classic.

I've always been partial to "You only move once", when Homer goes to work for Hank Scorpio.

I think flaming Moes was a good episode because I liked it when Homer told the special ingredient and lost 500,000 But I think Duffles shoulda been in there but nobody cares cuz im only 10

I also like The episodes that show how it was like before like Lisa's First Word, I Married Marge, and The Way We Was
