Lunch on a Skyscraper Cruising Around Manhattan

POST #    1395

In Manhattan yesterday afternoon, I spotted the Sergio Furnari sculpture of "Lunch on a Skyscraper". It's a life-size sculpture of the famous photo from 1932 over Rockefeller Center. Since I've never seen this before, my first reaction was "wow, lots of those silver robot guys strapped to a truck!" Obviously, that would have been a bit insane. The detail of the sculpture is amazing.

so it was actually on a truck and they were moving it? do you know where or if they were going to install it somewhere? i should make a mental note to find it when i'm in the city next time.

It's still in town? It was in SoHo when I saw it.

jason, i think it's a permanent fixture on the pickup truck. it just drives around from place to place in the city.

joe, i think it's based in the city. with the 917 number and all.

it used to always be in soho when i saw it. on one of those streets with a lot of stores and people on the street selling stuff.. that's why i was thinking west broadway.

Funny timing. Just saw a huge poster of the photo at dinner last night. We went to Mr. Bartley's for the first time. While it cannot quite top the Corner Bistro on taste alone, it was still a great burger. The onion rings and sheer variety of burger choices might rank it above the Bistro over all. (Can't believe I just typed that....)
