Movin' on Up to the 3.11

POST #    1264

Last night, I took advantage of some free time and upgraded this site to Movabletype 3.11. There seem to be a lot of new features, and I have yet to even scratch the surface, but so far, so good. I love the new, more robust, comment section of the Movabletype system. The same goes for the trackback section as well. Perhaps even better than both those features is that I can now schedule posts for the future. I can't quite figure out why that isn't working yet though.

Another new feature is the way comments are registered on the site. There is registration via Typekey, which I have yet to configure, allowing all comments or a delay for approval of comments. Right now, I've got it set for me , but if spam becomes too rampant, I can change that over. So if you comment and it doesn't show up, just know that I have to approve your comment first.

so you were able to fix the comment problem that you were having last night? are you going to install blacklist? i'm scared to put it back on after yesterday's inability to comment issue...

well, not really. the comments that are posted, as you might have noticed, have to be approved by me first. strangely, the old version of blacklist still works, which is good and bad. i'm sure i'll corrupt the database soon.

since i can't figure out why the comments have to be approved first (i've already played with the prefs), i'll just leave it like this and the spam comments won't appear on the site.

why not just turn the application for commenting on so that those of us who comment regularly can just sign up? might make it easier on both sides.

yeah, i couldn't really figure that out either. sigh. i'll look at some templates tonight and try to add the code.

i've got something working now. not great. and kind of ugly, but i'll work on that tonight.

but it does allow for typekey users to sign in.

You have to approve the comments first? Sounds strangely like censorship to me. Someone call the ACLU!

Only kidding, Tien.
