Police, Cheney, Delegates and Protesters

POST #    1246

Yesterday, I wanted to check out some of the protest, but apparently missed it all. I did, however, find some protesters on my walk west from Grand Central. They were waiting outside The Lion King for delegates to leave the show. Once that happened, the chants started. One included, "RNC go home" but I wonder how many of the protesters are actually from New York. The members of the convention seem to be having fun so far, enjoying The Lion King and Phantom of the Opera.

As the convention starts tonight, I might have to tune in. It's slightly masochistic for me to watch though as I will quickly become so angry that I will change the channel.

Rachelle beat me to it! How exactly do you get a crotch shot of a cop? Did you ask first?

Posted by: FlatGreg at August 30, 2004 11:26 AM

i was trying to show how much crap the cops have with them. sure, you can ask. they are supposed to say no though. or you can just stand there and point your camera down and snap a shot.

Hey Tien, today I went to the unauthorized/illegal protest that started at the U.N. and went all over midtown and ended at MSG you can see me on any news channel covering the poor peoples protest I think it was called, I'm in the front marching next to some nice people in wheelchairs that gave me memory cards to use when I ran out!! I'm 15, was wearing White-T Blue Jeans, and a black northface bag, and I have long hair. I saw myself on MNN, but anyway it was extremely peaceful till the end when the police made arrests for civil disobedience and shit, I got away into the press crowd and tryed to snap pics but I was bumped so much it was pointless, it got very hectic so I just helped outthis guy in a wheelchair and escorted him to safety then got my ass on the A back down to chambers st, anyways these protests are gonna get more violent everday especially the A31 protests

Rachelle, it's actually really easy to get a cop crotch shot. Simply kneel and aim the camera slightly off...

It's the only way to get a pix of the plastic cuffs.

Tien, it sounds like you ran into Mouse Bloc outside the Lion King - http://www.indybay.org/news/2004/07/1690323.php for more. Things in Times Square started to go south when the Queer Fist Kiss-In, Bike Bloc, and Mouse Bloc ended up converging there; that's when the NYPD fence-netting came out.

linus, i think all of that happened before i got there. or i just walked by it without noticing - which doesn't seem all that likely. i did notice two women kissing on a corner though.
