Revisiting a Love...
A love of pluots. I had previously written about my love of pluots last year, and they are back! They have been in stores for a little while now, but I just bought them for the first time yesterday (I don't shop all that often). I purchased four at the local Associated and ripened them up over night. This morning, two are already gone. I might have to buy some more later.
If you've never tried a pluot, or dinosaur egg, you should go out and buy some. It's a plum crossed with an apricot and really, really sweet. So go out, buy them. You won't be sorry. You might have to ripen them though.

Dinosaur egg is a better name, marketing wise. I didn't think I had eaten a pluot, but dinosaur egg, yes. Viva la hybrid fruits!

incidentally, i finished off my first purchase. but i also bought a few more. if anyone's counting, that is.

i'm wondering if the mini plums i've been buying were actually pluots...do they taste pretty much like plums? i'm not really sure what a fresh apricot actually tastes like-- i've only had dried.

i guess they are similar to plums. i mean, they have the same consistency and everything. taste is pretty similar too. next time you shop, look out for one. yum.

My grocery store carries 3-4 varities of pluots when they're in season, and my favorite are these tiny little yellow ones that taste like honey. Mmmm...pluots...

perhaps that's what i bought my second time. in addition to ones like the pluots pictured in this post, i bought ones with much more yellow in the skin.
