Big Apple Barbecue Block Party
Yesterday, I went to check out the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party. It was the perfect day to be outside, but the number of people there and the lines were insane. Insane, I tell you, insane!!
It was $6 per plate of food and with seven types of barbecue to be had, I sampled four of them. I had the Kansas City spare ribs from Blue Smoke, the beef brisket from K.C. Baron of Barbecue's R.U.B. BBQ, the whole hog from Mitchell's Ribs, Chicken & BBQ, and the baby back ribs from 17th Street Bar & Grill. To top that all off, I had some strawberry-rhubarb cobbler and a piece of watermelon. The best BBQ for the money were the ribs, but I liked the beef brisket from K.C. Baron the best (Pitmaster Paul Kirk is in the 3rd picture slicing the brisket). It was so tender. Yum!
It goes without saying, but I think I've had my fill of BBQ for at least a week.

yum....that looks goods...such sadness, missed the meat fest by a weekend. gotta start planning my eating schedule for this weekend, now that exam hell is over and i have time to do more than chug down information, and try to retain every bit for when i practice...for now, i will think about food and all that i can stuff myself with while back in "civilization"

That barbecue is a trailer!! It must be annoying to reach over the wheel and fender to tend the grill.

Fooking hell, I missed the 'cue by 15 minutes when I showed up at 5:15 Saturday night. The worst part was they were still serving food until 6, but had stopped selling tickets so I had to endure watching other folks get their meat on while I had none...
