McBreakdown

POST #    1084

After watching Super Size Me, I thought I might not eat McDonald's for a month. This morning, I broke down and had to have some. Actually, it wasn't so much of a craving for McDonald's as much as it was a, "hmm, I'm hungry and McDonald's sounds good." Obviously, that's a horrible thing to think, but I just love breakfast from McDonald's.

So it didn't quite reach a month. I saw the movie on May 8th, which was 27 days ago. Close enough, right? During the month, I didn't have McDonald's at all - it was offered, but I never had it. I did, however, have fast food during that time. It wasn't as much about cravings, but about laziness and things sounding like better options, just like this morning. I guess that's much of the problem that faces America - people turn to McDonald's because they lack better options and the time to prepare real food.

I'm sorry-- there is always at least one better option than McDonalds...

But that doesn't change the fact that it tastes damn good.

i was in a hurry, and hungry. two combinations that made it hard to fight off mcdonalds.

egg mcmuffins are one of my favorite foods ever. and double cheeseburgers. mmmmmcdonald's.

I have to agree with you Tien, McDonald's breakfast is one the best things. I always get an orange juice to pacify my "I need something healthy" thoughts.

I like their steak bagel sandwich even though it usually degenerates into a dripping, greasy mess. And I could most likely make an entire meal out of a whole bunch of their hash browns.

janelle, i'm with you.

ranga, i'm not sure about the oj, but i like to think that the potato is healthy.

ben, i didn't even know they had a steak bagel. and is the steak just a hamburger patty?

First, excellent photo - perfectly capturing all the greasy goodness. I gorge on McDonald's at least three times per month and I'm still kickin'.

I tried suicide by McDonald's last weekend. I took a friend to the train station at 6:00 AM Sunday morning, then as long as I was up and the weather was good, I flew a rented plane to Southbridge, MA just for fun, and they had a great greasy diner right there on the field, so I had a huge egg breakfast and a ton of coffee. Then I flew back. When I got into my car in New Haven, I was mysteriously hungry again, and it was still early, so I stopped at McD's and had two sausage McMuffin with Egg's, two hash browns, a large OJ, and a large black coffee. It was great! And, I wasn't hungry after that ... for quite awhile ...

you're just toying with me now...pictures of tasty food...i'll be heading to the states soon, nyc, so will be stuffing myself silly in no time...did you know that there is not enough time in a day to get hungry between each meal, if every one is had?
read fast food nation, it'll change the way you think about food...

oh tien, I saw this and immediately thought of you:

"It may be fast and convenient to stop at McDonald's for breakfast on your way to work, but this may make you think twice: Eat two McMuffins and two hash browns for breakfast and your arteries will remain inflamed until lunchtime, HealthDayNews reports of a new study from the State University of New York at Buffalo."

oscar, that's just insane. and you call yourself a doctor.

mike, i've actually never tried the mcgriddle.

stam, i just started fast food nation. give me another year and i might finish it.

patita, good think i ate a late lunch and an early breakfast then! and thanks for thinking about me. crazy, i've never met you and you thought of me when reading an article about fast food. gotta love the internet.

well tien, it was easy to think of you seeing as you have a huge picture of a gooey Egg McMuffin on your site right now. I don't want your arteries to go kablooey and deprive me of your daily blog goodness!

No no, people don't turn to mcdonalds because better options don't exist. This is america, we have endless options. People go there because it tastes damn good and it's fast.

Heh, no the steak isn't just a regular patty. Maybe a step above which still isn't saying much I guess. =)

McGriddle? Tried it once, can't get over that whole sweet & salty taste on one sandwich deal.
