Well, This is a Nice Addition to the Area

POST #    1069

Just a few weeks ago, when I checked Fresh Direct, my neighborhood was not in their delivery area. Now, to my joy, it is. That means, I don't have to get off my lazy ass to get food anymore. You can decide if that's good or bad. What might be worse is that a bulk of my new order is for beer. But this will certainly come in handy when I order some snacks for my eventual house warming party.

What's funny about Fresh Direct is that you can order a baseball cap (that's not the funny part). The description for the cap, besides the standard what they are made of and marketing blurb includes, "Please check product label for nutrition & ingredients." Too funny. I don't think it's an attempt at humor either, since it seems to be on other pages that don't contain food too. Just their standard boilerplate.

I've used Fresh Direct before and only really had one incident where I wasn't that happy, but that's because I had a major craving for watermelon and I was sweating my ass off.

Once, Fresh Direct screwed up my order (they forgot the two cases of beer I had ordered). I got the beer for free. A week later, I got a profusely apologetic letter from their CUstomer Service department, the aforementioned baseball hat, and large chocolate chip cookie. The NYC Grocery wars are indeed FIERCE!

The cookie was pretty good. But I don't wear hats.

that sounds like some really good service to make up for some bad service.

but does the hat have nutrition and ingredient info?

Wow. Going the grocery delivery route at such a young age? I figure this sort of service was more for the elderly and sociophobic shut-ins, though I guess laziness is a potential customer as well.

I wonder, would you use a food feeding service in addition to food delivery? Some scantily clad woman comes to your house and hand feeds you cheese doodles, krispy kremes, and beer for a reasonable price... Sound like an idea?

lest everyone think i'm the laziest person in the world, i'll be walking to the subways to go to work and i have to climb stairs to go to bed. so there will be plenty of walking up and down in my apartment.

joe, fresh direct acutally delivers good food that you can't always get at local places. sure, that might not be the reason i'm using it, but laziness is playing a role for me.

but your idea of a feeding service certainly does sound promising.
