My Favorite Potato Chip

POST #    989

I've got to say that Munchos are my favorite potato chip. Not that they contain any potato at all. They don't even claim to be a potato chip, but a "potato crisp". I'm surprised that oil and salt aren't before potatoes on the ingredient list. And the potatoes they use are dehydrated potatoes. They don't, however, surpass my love of Cheez Doodles (puffy and crunchy), which aren't technically chips.

Oh my! Munchos are my most favorite chip in the world! (PS- your blog is the only blog I read where I don't personally know the owner. It's very entertaining.)

yes heather, aren't they just delicious?

good to know that you enjoy it and even better to know that i have another reader. just wondering, how did you find the site?

I was curious what the deal was with tasty d lite and why it's low fat, so I googled it, and your site came up for it, and it was just an entry you wrote about tasty d lite. I looked at the site and saw all of the lovely pictures. I live nearby in Hoboken, and it's fun to see someone else's take on live in NYC. I am also in law school, so I don't really have much time to get out. With your pictures I get to see little bits of the outside world. Sad isn't it? Oh well, in a few years I can afford to go out and enjoy the city too . . .

Oops, I meant "life" in NYC.

I was never into potato chips, but I have to try Munchos now. You can add me as another reader of you site. I found your blog from a link on Gothamist a few months ago. I've been reading your blog on Avantgo when I found the text version. I have 2.5 hours to read news and blogs during my daily commute. Although I don't live in New York yet, I enjoy reading New York based blogs. They're much more interesting than the news.

wow, another reader! it's always good to hear positive things and how people stumble upon the site.

i'll warn you jason, munchos are both salty and greasy...which might be exactly why i love them.

Crisps are chips while chips mean fries in Great Britain. Maybe a little marketing gimmick of Munchos?

Munchos are the most bad ass chip around. Their texture is different. Their taste is different. No one chip is the same. It's like when you let a Munchos touch your finger tips, you end up with a new finger print all the time. They are just awesome. What I don't understand is why they are so underrated. All those chips that look the same. These light chips pack a punch no other chip can match. They are like a chip with a rebellious attitude. They don't care what others think. They are just the way they are.
You guys might think I'm crazy, but I don't care.---Why?---Because I have my Munchos standing right beside me. Together, we're an unstoppable team.

Have you seen the relatively new junk-food blog? Phoood.com

looks very interesting adam, thanks. it makes me feel a little better about my eating.

This site is rocking. Adam, I checked out the site. An awesome way to get out our fast food fetishes and attitudes.

Someone help me out here. I need to come up with a personality for Munchos. I think it's the rebellious chip that doesn't care what others think. What I wanna confirm is that a 14 year old kid could relate to that personality. If not, someone who is about that age i.e:12-16 please tell me what kind of personality you would relate to.

i love them too.. they are a good chip.. hope Lay would not discontinue them.... ( i can not find them in local grocery anymore ( Des Moines, IA)... i can only get them from gas station.

I LOVE munchos too! I can only get them at the gas station (live in wisconsin) but that is a major improvement over oregon where you cant get them at all. You can buy them on e-bay and on amazon.com. However, they DO contain potato and cornmeal. Here is a link to the nutritional information. No preservatives. http://www.fritolay.com/fl/flstore/cgi-bin/products_munchos.htm

Here's another vote for Munchos. I've loved them since I was a kid, and on a recent road trip, I let my three-year-old son try them. He loves them, and remembers each time we go on a trip that he might get Munchos (because Lord knows they're too unhealthy to keep around the house).

Found your site after someone found mine when they searched for Munchos (I mentioned them in at least one post).
