Bill Killed - Kill Bill Vol. 2

POST #    969

Last night, I went to see Kill Bill Vol. 2, the much anticipated second half of Kill Bill. There were varied opinions of Vol. 1, which was also evident of Vol. 2. I enjoyed the first movie and while I enjoyed the second one, I didn't think it was as good. It's almost hard to compare the two because they are so different. I'm happy Quentin Tarantino split the movies up, because they probably wouldn't have fit together very well and cutting such a nice looking movie would be a shame. Doing so, however, seemed to leave the second movie a little slow.

Random things I think of the movie, because I'm having some serious writer's block:
- This volume seemed less violent than the first version.
- Uma Thurman was excellent in both, but she seemed very bronzed.
- Daryl Hannah looked damn good.
- The little, little thing after the credits is really, really short and is at the very, very end of the movie.

i heard that the second volume is so different because tarantino was encouraged to continue editing it after the first one came out, based on audience reaction.

i dont know about you tien, but i thought it was at least 15 minutes too long. right about where the child was brought in, it got really painful to sit through. i thought parts of it were great, but parts were too spelled out/drawn out = boredom.

jl, while that sounds right, i think even if the audience didn't say anything, they would have been very different. people compare the 2nd one to a western movie.

christina, i too thought it was a little long at points. but as long as i could see uma, it's all good.

I too just saw it last night and thought that the two volumes maybe should have been a single, 3 hour movie. There's more dialogue in this one, and I don't want to sound like a numbskull, but it just dragged in many parts. And I think that's because the lines weren't good enough to warrant such large quanities of screentime - which was disappointing, considering it's Tarantino. But still, I did enjoy the movie. Pai Mei rulez!

I also think Uma was very bronzed, but I liked that she had the superpower ability to grow her hair six inches overnight. What - was her alter ego, Chewbacca?

i'd say 'deliberate' more than i'd say 'slow'
