Pseudo-Mao Family Reunion

POST #    932

Andrew, Stephanie, Tien, Janice

Over the weekend, several members of the Mao family were in town - aunt and cousins mostly. Aunt from California, cousin from Cali, cousin from Cali via Boston, cousin from Ohio via er...Hell's Kitchen. Anyway, it doesn't seem like that many people, but only one aunt and uncle were missing (in Asia), and three cousins (two in Asia and one in Baltimore).

Yesterday afternoon, we all met up and grabbed lunch at Wu Liang Ye and had a jolly good time. We took some pictured and all went our separate ways (they went to do touristy stuff - gag!).

I can relate to your thoughts as I don't celebrate any of the major holidays either, but here is one thing to look forward to, after-Easter sales on candy!! I hit the local Target and loaded up on all sorts of goodies I shouldn't and can't eat....at 75% off you can't beat that. Bought a lot of Peeps, even though they are not my favorite; I go for the chocolate.

Somehow this got posted in the wrong entry(meant for your post on 4-10)..oops!

Anyway, glad you had a good time with your family, and I can just imagine how my family felt when I went to NYC and they had to do touristy things with me, this was 3 years ago and today I am like "why did I want wake up at 5am to be in the audience for Good Morning America?" What was I thinking..ewww...

Crazy right...for GMA, yeah we were on camera, they did this segment on rollerskate sneakers right in front of us, Diane Sawyer(she's tall) gave my friends high fives after she successfully skated to our area, I had my hand raised but like a fool was left hanging, however I did get to take a pic with George Stephanopolis(sp) who was filling in for Charlie Gibson that day. Oh, also, later that day we passed by the Ed Sullivan Theater, and won tickets to see that evening's taping of Letterman, guests were Kristen Davis and the 2 guys who directed and were in American Movie. While we waited for the taping we had sandwiches at the Hello Deli, got to meet Rupert..I was such a tourist.

yikes cj, that is a mighty touristy day you had. at least you got to see letterman though. so was it that diane was acually tall or was it that george s. is just really short.

Diane Sawyer is tall, but then again I'm 5'5, so what do I know, George seemed a little shorter than me, but it could have been that my shoes made me taller. Looking back at that entire trip I cringe, why did I think any of that was fun? My sister wanted to go to the Twin Towers(this was in August 2001), and I told her, eh, I've been up there, it's ok but I'd rather go to the Empire State Bldg. and Chinatown. So we did, and I still feel bad about that, her missing out.
