More Like RachelleB.com Everyday

I don't think I'll be going blonde or getting those hot pants...
In a quest to be more like Rachelle's site, I've added a new feature to the "little read book" - links, a.k.a. "little read links" (I'm going to ride the red/read thing to death). Right now, you can find them below the list of recent comments. The "little read links" will contain links (duh) to things that I found interesting, fun, or informative. You can even comment on them to add your thoughts on the links. There may or may not be a heavy slant on news from the NY Times, but what do you expect, it's my local newspaper. Hopefully, this adds a little to the site since I feel that it has added a lot to Rachelle's site.
Thanks for the help Rachelle.

copying is the best form of flattery, right?

that it is rachelle, that it is. since i can't copy the photos you take anymore, i'll just copy your site. cool?

how do you do the little read links? is it flat out html or some sort of plug in?
Posted by: corie at March 10, 2004 10:12 PM
it's set up in MT as a separate blog, and a SSI. man, that sounds technical. i understand it now, but mostly through rachelle explaining it.

I think I get it-- it's how Dooce does her sidebar, no? Rachelle should create a consulting side business.

it looks like how dooce does her sidebar. the way rachelle instructed me to do it was kind of like this.
Posted by: tien at March 11, 2004 8:40 AM
that's how i have my links and the movies and books sections on my site. but for some reason i can't get the comment part to show up with the link - could you email me how you did that?

i like your (and rachelle's) little links. sometimes i tire from reading blog entries that are just like one link, but with zero original commentary. separating them out is a great idea.
and i'm really excited to read more + more rachelle now that she's in chi-town. i love new york, but midwest is best!

tien, if you wear hot pants and go blonde, it's a whole new audience for you.
And while I love rachelle AND janelle, midwest is so not best.

hmm...a new audience...
i spent parts of 4 years in the midwest. it was okay. a nice change of pace for parts of the year. i think it was an essential part of my education.

by all means start wearing the hot pants, but if you start posting photos of yourself wearing them you may lose some of your current audience.

jen - okay, okay... but it sure rhymes nice now don't it? i'll just say chicago's not bad. but that's coming from someone who's heavily biased toward the midwest, and who loves detroit for its postapocalyptic victorian mansions and train station and theater-turned-parking garage.

so i just moved some stuff around in the right side column. not including the stuff at the top, it's links, comments, recent entries, other blogs, other sites, etc.
do other people have any thoughts on the issue? and yes, it's almost the exact same order as rachelle's site now.
