B-Day Weekend with...Swag!

POST #    819

This birthday weekend, I went up to Pennsylvania, taking advantage of the fact that my parents were away for the week. Johnny, Katie, S, and I went up on Saturday and returned on Sunday. It was a great relaxing weekend, and a perfect way to celebrate turning 26.

Who needs fancy dinners, when you can cook a fancy-ish dinner yourself? A couple bottles of wine, surf and turf, and vegetables, all cooked on the grill. For dessert, strawberry cheesecake from Eileen's Special Cheesecake (my favorite!!). Perfect!! I'm getting hungry just thinking about all the food.

Other activities included watching Chuck&Buck, which as many people pointed out, was quite disturbing, playing Taboo, and tossing around the baseball.

The three of them also gave me some great gifts. S gave me his and her blog-related shirts, a journal, and The Sneaker Book: Anatomy of an Industry and an Icon. Johnny and Katie gave me Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right and The Central Park Concert.

Thanks to the three of them for all the gifts and for a great weekend. It was a lot of fun. My parents need to go on vacation more.

I'm really impressed that you'd watch Chuck & Buck on your birthday weekend. I have a "nothing disturbing" embargo during my bdays...except for the parts when I've had to wander around drunk with my friends, walking downtown to get to my uptown apartment.

Tien, I'm disturbed by your birthday recap. No strippers, gambling, drugs, or adult films? What kind of birthday is that!??? :)

hmm, an embargo on disturbing things...that sounds interesting. i didn't select the actual movie to watch, but i was fine with it. i just had to curl up into a ball afterwards.

justin, i'm old now. my body wouldn't handle the drugs well anymore. and i don't think i can stay up after 11 anymore, so the strippers, gambling, and adult films were difficult to get to. for shame.

Happy Birthday, slightly belated, Tien....

And damn you for being younger than me!

what exactly are 'blog-related shirts'?

Posted by: Jimmy Legs at March 8, 2004 12:25 PM

I always take my birthday as a vacation day from the day job, which is my contribution to the "nothing disturbing" school of thought. It works for me; this year I'm a Monday.

And if I'm not doing anything else, I like to have a glass of wine with lunch and look out the window at the world. But then I've had a few more birthdays than you, and after a certain number the instinct is to get the hell out of the way of them.

thanks joe, then again, won't i always be younger than you?

jimmy, blog related being the shirts in the first picture - "blogaholic" (me) and "blogaphobic" (her).

linus, thanks for that cd. i'm in the process of listening to it.

You're welcome, Tien - I was glad to make it in time for the day. A pleasure all around. At least I hope so! I hope you like it.

weird, i saw the pic for the 'blogophobic' shirt and didn't even consider it blog-related. i need help.

Posted by: Jimmy Legs at March 8, 2004 6:39 PM

oh, and if anyone wants a shirt...either one, let me know...i can get in contact with the person that made them.
