In Need of a Lighthearted Movie

Last night, I went to go see Monster, which stars Charlize Theron and Christina Ricci. If you're looking for a happy movie, don't watch Monster. It's a great film, but quite disturbing. Much has been made about Charlize and how she looks like a totally different person in the movie. Everything you've heard about that is true. She's not pretty at all in this movie. While there is nudity, you almost don't want to see her topless. Excellent, excellent movie. We'll see if she takes home the Oscar or not.

As if watching Monster wasn't heavy enough, I came home and popped in Thirteen, which I got from Netflix this week. Thirteen is about a 7th grader who goes from an innocent girl to a girl hooked on drugs, dabbling in sex, and cuts herself. Another excellent movie, which makes me think about what the hell is happening to kids these days. I mean, I don't think anybody in my 7th grade class was that messed up. Sure, I was in a good educational environment, which may have prevented things like that from happening. But have kids really gotten that bad in 12 years?
Hopefully, the two of the movies that I have coming next week will be crappy and lighthearted enough to even things out a bit.

Come on... you saw Kids, right? Those kids were doing the same crap back then.
And its scary.

Holly Hunter was on the Tonight Show; Jay Leno made a stupid joke about how her family had a fight with another part of the family over a pig (she's from Oklahoma) and she was stonefaced.

Sadly, a friend of one of my swimmers is a 14-year girl who would fit right in with that movie. So yeah it does happen and it is scary.

i think i have some sort of strange attraction to holly hunter. it's the way she talks. the drawl with the slight lisp.

holly is pretty hot, although she's getting too skinny. she looks stringy now. kinda the madonna/courtney cox syndrome.
i liked her in the piano. she was sexy in that.

i lied to my parents and went to my first beer party when i was 12 or 13.. i havent seen this movie but from you've described specifically, i can say that it's pretty much right on to what i was doing when i was 13. tien, you are getting old. or else you lead a really sheltered teenage life.

wait, you were wearing thongs, drinking every night, smoking pot, selling drugs, stealing from stores, cutting your arm, and having sex all at 12 or 13?

Dude, when we were 13 and 14, we would just play football in the park and eat pizza. We were sheltered youths, Tien.
