Real Men Genius and Real American Heroes

Any sports fan would know that Budweiser's Bud Light has a recent ad campaign celebrating "Real Men Genius" and "Real American Heroes". These ads celebrate things like the inventor of the foot-long hot dog, people who wear too much cologne, and really bad toupee wearers.
You can even pick up a Real Men of Genius CD on their site (you have to enter your age first, but there is a link on the main page of the store). And, if you have no idea what I'm talking about, you can listen to the commercials here or here.
There is even a spoof of this floating around on some Internet sports sites. It's called "Real Men of Genius - Mr. Really Mad Internet Sports Fan". Justin passed this along to me after he read this on an...Internet sports site, how surprising.
Reeeeal men of geeeeeniuuuus!
Today we salute YOU, Mr. Really Mad Internet Sports Fan
"Mr. Really Mad Internet Spo-orts Fan!"
Only YOU can fully appreciate the mind-blowing tragedy of a bunch of 18-22 year old athletes you'll never meet, losing a game.
"Don't you TAAAAALK to me about perspective!!"
While others are too preoccupied with things like real life, you take your anger directly to the place where it will make the absolute least possible impact: An Internet discussion forum.
"Loggin' on now!"
Your unique eye for logic allows you to sling turds of doom every which way, and then brag about how you were RIGHT as soon as one of the pieces sticks to the wall regardless of how many dozens fell limply to the floor before that.
"See I told you sooooooo!!"
And if some idiot newspaper columnist has the gall to not be as incensed as you are, you unleash your fury down upon him with all the tenacity and mercilessness of a rabid pit bull with a tender buttock locked in its jaws.
"Total anonymity!"
So keep clicking away, oh Marauder of the Mousepad. Because when the results you so desire finally come about years from now, you can say it was because YOU demanded it."
"How come they haven't fired that dumbass coach yet?"

are these really that recent? i think they've been around for years. i think i might even remember them from when i lived in WI and that was before 2000.

well, there are new ones and there are old ones. i'm not sure when the campaign started.

Interesting tid-bit:
Post 9/11, Bud changed the slogan from "Real American Heroes" to "Real Men of Genius." I believe this was done since the national media started picking up on drumming up attention for actual American heroes, and Bud was worried that the campaign could be seen as slightly insensitive to be claiming that these odd/strange inventor people were "American Heroes." I'm not sure if you'll be able to find verifiable proof of this, but I know I've looked into it before and I'm fairly sure of all of this.
Why I even know this, I don't know. I'm so full of useless information that it's rather sad sometimes.

that is some pretty useless info, just like the toothpaste stuff. but it's all pretty good to know. yeah, i remember hearing the old versions of the ads and it's understandable why they would change the name.

Joe, thanks for the info (really!). I always wondered why they changed the name. I think the TRUE "real man (or woman) of genius" is the person who came up with this ad campaign!
And by the way, most of the stuff in the internet sports fan version does apply to me. I'm not sure if I'm proud or embarrased about that! (maybe both!)

maybe this is the time to post the footlong hotdog photo since you were trying to imitate the real man of genious commercial where the guy suggestively eats the weiner at the end
