The Inaugural "Quotations From Mao"
Jeannette and Yvan bought me a "Little Red Book" while on vacation, and due to popular demand (Jeannette and Justin), I'm going to bring you a weekly quotation from Chairman Mao. Who says I don't listen to the people?
Mao said:
"If there is to be revolution, there must be a revolutionary party. Without a revolutionary party, without a party built on the Marxist-Leninist revolutionary theory and in the Marxist-Leninist revolutionary style, it is impossible to lead the working class and the broad masses of the people in defeating imperialism and its running dogs." - November, 1948

By "revolutionary party" I think Mao meant he and his cronies! I'm no expert on China, but I have a feeling that Mao's government was not a communist paradise for the working class!
By the way, talk about a no win situation - the Chinese Civil War in the late 1940s. On one side, Mao and the Communists. On the other, the corrupt, oppressive dictator Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek (gotta love the generalissimo title though!) Hmmm, which style of totalitarianism would you prefer? Tough call!
That's almost as bad as the Spanish civil war in the 1930s between the communists and the fascists.
