The Getty Center

My last scenic stop in the Los Angeles area brought me to the Getty Center. Located in the Santa Monica Mountains, the views from the Getty Center are breathtaking. On a clear day (I'm not sure this happens during the summer in L.A.), you can see downtown L.A., the Pacific Ocean, and the San Gabriel Mountains. Designed by Richard Meier, the Getty Center is a complex of six buildings which include research buildings and the J. Paul Getty Museum. I thought the nicest part of the Getty Center was the Central Garden, a 134,000 square-foot garden designed by Robert Irwin. Because it was "winter" in L.A. during our visit, the garden wasn't in full bloom, but we already got enough of flowers earlier in the week. Justin was skeptical when I told him that I wanted to go to the Getty Center, but after we got there, he was pleased that we waited to park and paid the $5 parking fee.
It was an excellent way to wrap up my trip to Los Angeles.
I have some more pictures, but ofoto was down when I tried to upload them. I'll get them up sometime soon.

I admit I was a little skeptical about the getty center after waiting in traffic for like 45 minutes to get in and park. To be honest, I had no idea what teh place was ahead of time, but Tien slept in the car while I hiked for 2 hours earlier in the week so I owed him!
But the place was spectacular and well worth the trip - I'd do it again in a second. Great views!
