Slow News Day

POST #    642

Lisa Evers of Fox5 New York

With crime at its lowest rate in years, there is little news to report. This must be why Fox 5 called me to talk about my picture of the middle finger on the walk/don't walk sign. Apparently, they saw my picture on NewYorkish. Gawker then picked the image up and the rest is blog history. Okay, not really. But a lot of people have linked to it and Gawker's post was responsible for a lot of visits.

Tonight, Lisa Evers came over to interview me about the picture and the signs. The first thing I asked her and the crew was, "slow news day?" They all answered at the same time "yeah." Classic.

They said it will be on the 10 o'clock news tonight. So, if you're in the New York area, tune in and check it out. More later...if it makes the cut.

- As Seen In Brooklyn (the post that started it all)
- NewYorkish on the sign
- Gawker on the sign
- Turbanhead saw it too

Now you're totally famous--at least among those people who watch Fox News. Great investigative work--maybe you should give up "construction" and become a journalist.

That's really funny. I'd gotten an email from a friend linking to your site and I wrote back-- "oh, you know tien? i just met him a few weeks ago." you must have been hitting the ciruits at that point, because then i received 2 more forwards from people to that link!

i don't know katie, i'm pretty hard core into "construction." even tmq has called my a "new york construction worker."

corie, the thing is spreading like wildfire. it's really kind of crazy.

what exactly do you do, tien?

Posted by: corie at December 17, 2003 8:24 AM

we are all still trying to figure that out, corie

hmm...what do i do, what do i do? well, the company i work for is an architectural metal and curtain wall company and we also have this company that sells some architectural products. now, that confuses most people, so i usually just say "construction" but my friend johnny (comments as jk) keeps telling me to call it architectural construction. but i'm just too lazy/forgetful to keep doing that. oh, and i'm in the marketing department of said company.

Nice picture of Lisa Evers. I guess I gotta start watching Fox 5 again...

I don't know if it was done by the same perp, or by someone inspired by the news story, but I saw another walk sign 'taped up' on ninth street (somewhere around 50th) yesterday.
