longest movie ever

POST #    226

i just finished watching one of the longer, if not the longest, movies that i have ever seen - gods and generals. a movie about the civil war has to be long, but this movie, the first of a trilogy of movies by director ron maxwell, was 231 minutes!! that is almost 4 hours! and the movie only covers up to stonewall jackson's death. it's so long that while in the theaters, there was in intermission. on dvd, it was on the front and the back. yikes.

well, there were slow parts (i guess you get that in a 4 hour movie) but it was very thorough. i don't think that it was great, but it wasn't bad either. let's just say it was okay. its a movie that a civil war buff would love. and the southern drawl of some of the people takes some getting used to for a yankee.

i'm also upset that they didn't cover the battle of antietam, which was my favorite battle.

4 hours is way too long to sit through an "okay" movie

it should be noted that i was rotating through positions while watching. i was mostly lying down.

Voyna i mir (1968) (War and peace) is over 7 hours long... This is maybe the longest "serious" movie...

"cure for insomnia"
the film mostly consists of poet L.D. Groban reciting his own poem of 4,080 pages
Sound exciting!
